Driveway Board Underneath

Sophisticated design on the underside of the board, complete with high-strength bars supply additional strength resulting in the board capable of supporting heavy loads. With the addition of a deavy-duty PVC skirt that adds unparalleled grip to prevent movement of the board.

Driveway Board Exploded View

All materials used on the driveway board are 100% recyclable. By using Melba Swintex closed-loop recycling this eliminates sending the boards to landfill, each Driveway Board when recycled, can be used to manufacture new products, cone bases, or even a new skirt for another Driveway Board.

The All New Q-Frame

An industry first from Melba Swintex, an all plastic Quick Fit Frame. Implementing the revolutionary Quick-Lock fasteners that are fitted as standard. These remain securely in place allowing a quick and easy sign face installation. The frame takes 300mm and 450mm centre sign plates. Black as standard with Corporate Branding and various all-through colour options available*.

Q-Frame Sign Sizes
Sign Faces

The Q-Frame comes with Quick-Lock fasteners installed at 300mm centres as standard, with the facility to move these into 450mm centre holes. These Quick-Lock fasteners have been carefully engineered to prevent any twists within the frame, ensuring an easy to install sign face every time.

Q-Frame Colours
Customisation

Manufactured in Black as standard, however with the facility to manufacture with your corporate branding colours without the need for any extra processes. As well as this, corporate branding can be embossed onto the front bottom leg of the frame reducing in theft. Minimum runs apply.

Q-Frame Collection

Q-Frame Construction
Deployment

Sophisticated form around the connection for the back legs ensures they do not come away in everyday use. With indication as to when the legs are in the open position, and a smart catch feature when in the home position.

Q-Frame Stacking
Transport

Unique to the Q-Frame is its ability to stack with itself, resulting in safer transport and utilisation of space more efficiently. 80 pieces to a pallet, with lighter-in-weight than its metal counterpart means less fuel required for transport.

Q-Frame Back

Testing

All portable road signs must conform to BS 8442:2015 to be used on British roads, and this includes the Q-Frame. The Q-Frame is the first quick fit frame variant that has been rigorously tested at the MIRA Wind tunnel facility, to determine the specific ballast requirement for each Wind Class.

Features
  • Takes 300 mm and 450 mm centre sign faces.
  • Revolutionary Quick-Lock fasteners.
  • Lighter than steel = less weight in vehicle.
  • Non-Metallic with no scrap value.
  • Non-Conductive.
  • 100% recyclable.
  • Stackable – 80 to a pallet.
  • Can be branded with customer logo. Minimum run applies.

The Tuff Tread

The Tuff Tread Footway Board has been on the market for the past couple of months and already we have received keen interest on its performance.  After having the support and guidance from Lloyds British, the UK’s leading provider of lifting and equipment inspection services, we decided we would take it one step further and have it independently tested by the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Sheffield to the requirements of the HAUC Advice Note No. 2018/01.

The full report is available for immediate download at the Tuff Tread product page found on the Melba Swintex website, along with the original report from Lloyds British, and the Benefits & Features that the Tuff Tread has to offer.

The Testing Itself

Tuff Tread Testing

All samples were simply supported over a clear span of 700mm, with no securing, and had the load applied by a servo-hydraulic actuator through a 250mm diameter circular pad.

Tuff Tread Testing

The deflection of each board was monitored through a Linear Variable Differential Transducer (LVDT) positioned on the underside of the board, and directly under the centre of the circular pad.

Tuff Tread Testing

After all the loading to the HAUC Advice Note was complete, one final sample was then tested to determine its yield strength – the point of no return.

HAUC Legislation Conforms

Well What D’Ya Know.

Once all of the testing had been performed, recorded, and reviewed, it was found that:

  • All of the tested specimens complied with the HAUC specifications, with a maximum measured displacement under a sustained load of 400kg equal to approximately 29mm (<35mm).
  • All of the specimens were able to carry a maximum imposed load of 800kg without any sign of failure.
  • The maximum load capacity was approximately 1,500kg.

Not only does the Tuff Tread conform to current legislation, it is also 100% completely recyclable.

Tuff Tread Testing

Tested in accordance to the latest HAUC regulations under the full guidance of Lloyds British, an accredited testing house with over 200 years experience in this field. The Tuff Tread can withstand a full working load of 400 kgs with minimal deflection, & 800 kgs with no sign of failure, over a trench span of 700mm. See the video above to find out more.

Tuff Tread Construction

The materials used in the manufacturing of the Tuff Tread are 100% recyclable which dramatically reduces the products ending up in landfill by using our closed loop recycling opportunity. Each Tuff Tread when recycled, can be used to manufacture: new products, cone bases, or even a new skirt for another Tuff Tread.

GRP is a Hazardous Material

Current covers are manufactured from GRP, which is composed of fine strands of glass fibre that are a severe irritant for skin. When the material breaks, there is a potential risk the glass fibres can become airborne, which poses a serious risk to existing respiratory problems.

GRP to Landfill

Existing GRP Trench Covers can break and fracture easily, so therefore must be replaced regularly. It is extremely difficult to recycle GRP, and due to this, most GRP products end up in landfill at their end of life.

Manufactured from Durable Materials

The Tuff Tread uses materials that have a high strength-to-density ratio. They are proven to last longer than GRP products. The material does not splinter, nor pose an irritant threat when exposed to contact with the skin. Maintenance of them is easy, and they can be wiped or washed clean if and when required.

Melba Swintex is Flying the Kitemark™

During the past few months, Melba Swintex has had its Traffic Cone range put through tough and vigorous testing. These tests have been conducted by BSI, the national standards body of the United Kingdom, to the technical standards set out within their publications, these of which are recognised globally as the definition and guidelines of all Temporary Traffic Cones. Its now official we have the BSI Kitemark™ for our range of cones.

As the standards published by the BSI are publicly available, any company can state claims of compliance to a standard for their product. However, these claims are often not validated by an independent organisation.

The Kitemark™ on the Melba Swintex Cone range gives you the complete reassurance that it is regularly tested by BSI and meets the requirements of the standard.
